Austin, TX, May 2, 2008- The 5th Annual FEDEX-Kinko's Classic of Austin got underway on Friday at the Hills CC at Lakeway under perfect skies and some unusual wind.

Round one saw Nick Price end up at the top at -7 with a first round 65 with Mark O'Meara in 2nd with a 66 and D.A. Weibring, Fred Funk, last year's winner Scott Hoch, Denis Watson, and Tom McKnight all tied for 3rd with a 67 for the day.

O'Meara was one of a handful of players that shot a bogey-free round with 13 pars, 4 birdies, and an eagle.

Price has had 4 previous wins in Texas at the Texas Open (1), the Byron Nelson (1), and the Colonial. When asked about his round, commented that the course was just playing "beautiful" he felt like he was playing his best golf since going through a "bad phase" from 2004 - 2007.

Austin's Tom Jenkins and Ben Crenshaw finished with a 2-under 70 and Tom Kite finished with a 2-over 74.
