Austin, TX, May 3, 2008- Round 2 of the FEDEX-Kinko's
Classic of Austin saw
Nick Price post a 67 to retain
his lead by 2 over
Loren Roberts and
Scott Simpson who are tied at
10-under for the tourney in hold econd place together. Price,
Roberts, and Simpson will comprise the final group on Sunday.
Round one saw
Nick Price end up at the
top at -7 with a first round 65 with
Mark O'Meara in 2nd with a
66 and D.A. Weibring, Fred Funk, last year's winner
Scott Hoch,
Denis Watson, and
Tom McKnight all tied for 3rd with a 67 for
the day.
O'Meara was one of a handful of
players that shot a bogey-free round with 13 pars, 4 birdies,
and an eagle.
Price has had 4 previous wins in Texas at the Texas Open (1),
the Byron Nelson (1), and the Colonial. When asked about his round, commented that
the course was just playing "beautiful" he felt like he was
playing his best golf since going through a "bad phase" from
2004 - 2007.

Scott Simpson just posted a birdie at hole 11 to tie Nick Price at the
top.
> Jerry Pate puts his first shot in the
water on the Par three 16, knocks his 2nd from the drop zone into the
hole for a solid 3. Tom Kite got wet as well on 16 and posted a 5. He
birdied 18 and finished 4 over for the tournament with a 74
> Dennis Watson eagled 10 which gives
him 3 eagles for the tourney.
> Scott Hoch has a triple on 18 to close with a 71
> Nick Price birdies 18 for a 67 keeping him in the lead at -12
> Fulton Allem was DQ'ed after leaving the scorer's tent area and not
signing his card after a shooting a 73 today. He was 1 -over for the
tournament. |
